Course details including Port of Redwood City Water Quality information

The Fourth Annual Stanford Treeathlon makes its off-campus debut this year at the Port of Redwood City in Redwood City, California. Collegiate, age group and relay options are available.

The Treeathlon is the primary fundraiser for the Stanford Triathlon Team. Funds raised from the race sustain our mission to raise awareness of the sport and to expose students to triathlon at an early age.

The Treeathlon is also Stanford University's contribution to the West Coast Collegiate Triathlon Conference (WCCTC) race series, and we will have separate collegiate and non-collegiate divisions for entry.

Online Registration Closes: February 27, 2008 12:00 AM Pacific Time

Location

The races will kick off from Seaport Court, Redwood City CA.

Directions:

From Highway 101 North or South, take the Woodside Road / Seaport Blvd exit - you want to go NORTH on Seaport Blvd. Head all the way to the end of Seaport Blvd to the Office park at the end, where you will see a big sign for "Pacific Shores Center". Participant / Volunteer parking is the first lot on the right; Spectator Parking is half-way around the loop. For more details, have a look at the Parking Map. You will then have to walk or ride your bike back down Seaport Blvd to Seaport Court. Take Seaport Court and look for Volunteers to point you toward the Transition area.

From I-280 North or South, take the Woodside Road exit, and follow Woodside Road NORTH until it crosses under 101 and becomes Seaport Blvd. From there follow the directions above.

Shuttles:

If you're coming from Stanford, or if you'd rather park at Stanford (free on weekends, of course), we'll be providing race-day Shuttles from Maples Pavilion at Stanford to the Treeathlon course, and back again after the race. You'll need to reserve a spot for you and your bike, and you can do so HERE.

Parking

If you must drive, parking is available in the Pacific Shores Center. For Treeathlon participants and volunteers, please park in the lot adjacent to 2100 Seaport Blvd. Spectators are invited to use the lot next to 1300 Seaport Blvd. There is a grassy area next to this lot that makes an excellent spot to view the bike course! Parents of Saplingathlon participants are welcome to park at 900 Chesapeake Dr. Please note that there will be no left turns from northbound Seaport Blvd. on to Chesapeake Dr. You will need to drive around the Pacific Shores Center and come south on Seaport Blvd. and make a right turn on to Chesapeake Dr. A parking map is available here.

Packet Pick-Up

Packet pickup will be held:

Friday, February 29th, 4:30 - 7:00 PM at Stanford in the Avery Conference Room (map)

To get to Avery Conference Center:

Park in the Varsity Lot next to the baseball diamond. The entrance to the parking lot is off of Galvez Street. Turn onto Nelson Road and you will end up in the lot. From the parking lot, head towards Avery Aquatic Center. You will have to cross some bollards and through the Pac 10 Plaza. As you approach Avery Aquatic Center, you will see some pairs of large doors to the right side of the center. Enter through those doors and turn left. The Avery Conference Room should be right in front of you. It is located next to the diving well.

Saturday, March 1st, 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Sequoia Yacht Club (map)

For the full Treeathlon, there will be absolutely no packet pickup the day of the race; however, race-day registration will be available for the Saplingathlon.

Wetsuit Rental

Although the Stanford Treeathlon does not have an official wetsuit sponsor, we as a team have had very pleasant experiences renting wetsuits from both Sports Basement in Sunnyvale and The Runner's High in Menlo Park.

Race Start Time

The race will take place on Sunday, March 2. The first wave of the full Treeathlon will begin at 7:30 am. Please plan to arrive at least one hour before the start of the race to park, use the restroom, secure and set up a spot in the transition area, use the restroom, get body-markings, use the restroom, and become acquainted with the course. The Saplingathlon will begin at 10:30 am. Use of the restroom beforehand is recommended.

Post-Race Barbeque

A Barbeque will be held at the finish line from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Food and drinks will be provided for racers! (Spectators can also partake in the barbeque, but tickets will have to be purchased for $10 at the Sequoia Yacht Club)

Cost

The registration fees before February 17 are as follows:

Treeathlon Collegiate: $50
Treeathlon Age Group Individual: $65
Treeathlon Relay: $93
Saplingathlon Individual: $25

After February 17, a late fee will be added to the above fee structure for all divisions, and the prices will be as follows:

Last minute registrations may be available at packet pickup, the day before the race, if the race is not sold out at that time. We don't think we're flattering ourselves too much when we say that the Treeathlon has always been a popular event, so we recommend that you register early. In fact, we recommend that you register right now. The race could sell out while you're reading this. Hurry!

Prizes

You bet there will be prizes!

Medals and prizes will be distributed as follows:

Please note that participants must be present to receive prize. All unclaimed prizes will be raffled on the day of the event.

All participants in the Saplingathlon will receive participant medals.

For everyone else, hard work is its own reward! However, we will also have a totally sweet raffle; this ensures that, even if you don't legitimately earn a prize, you still have a shot at receiving one.

Instead of T-shirts, all participants will receive a Treeathlon-themed spike bag (a small, extremely fashionable gym backpack), stuffed with all manner of neat stuff.

Mail-In Registration Information

You made it this far, what's a few more clicks between friends? Seriously though, if you have some uncommon condition that prevents you from registering online, paper registration forms are available at http://triathlon.stanford.edu/treeathlon/reg_forms.shtml.

Refund Policy

The sport of triathlon demands commitment, and in that spirit, we won't be issuing any refunds.
